Hi, Everyone -
There's a lot going on in Baltimore this summer in the social change arena. I suspect many of you have busy summers planned, but I hope you'll take some time to get out and meet a few new people working to make the world a little bit better.
A few events worth noting:
- NTC Speaking Proposals Due (June 15): The Nonprofit Technology Conference is in Washington, DC in 2014. You're planning on attending, right? Why not aim to speak? Speaking proposal guidelines are available online. Also, NTEN is running a campaign to fund 50 scholarships to the NTC. If you donate, you can nominate someone for a scholarship.
- Social Enterprise Breakfast 7 (June 19, 7:30 am): Stephanie Halley, the Executive Director of the Woman's Industrial Exchange, and others will be sharing their experiences as social entrepreneurs. The Social Enterprise Breakfast is a forum for idea sharing, resource exchange and connecting among Baltimore’s social entrepreneurs, nonprofit and civic leaders, community advocates, grant-makers, and social investors. Tickets required.
- Strong Art Strong Youth: A Convening (June 22, 9:00 am): Youth Resiliency Institute Executive Director Fanon Hill & artist Peter Bruun invite you to join in a sharing and discussion of Strong Art Strong Youth - an investigation commissioned by the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation on the challenges and opportunities confronting arts practitioners who use "strong art" to help build "strong youth" in Baltimore City. More information online.
- skillsIMPACT 2013 (June 25, 5:30 pm):
- Maker Camp (Various Summer Sessions): MakerCamp consists of four sessions (Circuit Adventures, Digital Design & Fabrication, Game Development, & Aerial Pursuits) running from June through August with half-day and full-day options for youth between the ages of 7-10 (Nano Makers) and 13-17 (Mega Makers). Youth ages 11 and 12 are welcome to apply after speaking with a DHF staff member to determine best fit. Scholarship assistance available. Sign up online.
Hope these resources are helpful.
