SFTech4Good and Sponsor Events
See you in September for our next event!
September 28 - Election Tech Panel: Civic Tech, Data, and Voter Engagement
It’s an election year, so we’ve put together a panel on how technology is being used for improving voter engagement! SFTech4Good is partnering with the Bloomberg Data for Good Exchange, which is part of a long Bloomberg tradition of advocacy for using data science and human capital to solve problems at the core of society.
Bloomberg SF Tech Hub
140 New Montgomery, 22nd Floor, San Francisco, CA
6pm: doors open, grab a snack and then mix and mingle
6:30 to 7:30pm: panel and Q&A
7:30pm: mingling and breakouts
9pm: event ends
Free - RSVP is REQUIRED here on Eventbrite:
NOTE: Advance registration plus your photo ID are required to enter the Bloomberg office.
This is a non-partisan event and will focus on tools that get eligible voters registered, help voters make better voter decisions or engage and participate more, and help voters find and use public data to help inform themselves. The panel will touch on the role of government and data, with respect to how data can be used by third party apps, and data and voter registration, and how data collection can inform voter registration efforts. The panel is:
• Charles Belle, Founder and CEO of StartupPolicyLab.org, our fearless moderator
• Joy Bonaguro, Chief Data Officer at City and County of San Francisco
• Debra Cleaver, Founder and CEO of Vote.org
• Alex Kranenburg, Co-founder of Politalk
• Carla Mays, whose team recently won the Hillary Clinton Presidential Hack

Take a 20 min survey for our sponsor, NTEN:
Are nonprofits using technology in their strategic plans? How do nonprofits budget for tech needs? Help us by taking the Nonprofit Technology Staffing and Investments survey!
Everyone who takes the survey will be invited to enter a drawing for a $500 VISA Gift Card.
This helps nonprofit leaders answer challenging questions by providing greater context of what similar organizations are doing when it comes to staffing, budgeting, planning, and spending. Your answers will remain anonymous and will be reported in aggregate only. A report based on the findings from this survey will be made available in the Fall of 2016 for free. Details about the survey are here.

Nonprofits & Tech Companies - Join Benetech’s CodeAlliance
Nonprofits - need tech volunteers? Tech companies - need well-scoped projects for employees?
Code Alliance from Benetech is “volunteering as a service” that puts together 8-40 hour volunteering projects from weekend to 1 week projects. Beyond one-off hackathons: Code Alliance is creating an ‘ongoing hackathon’ to get social impact organizations more consistent commitments to drive results e.g. on a quarterly basis. More broadly, Code Alliance is an open source consultancy for social impact organizations by bringing together the best minds from the open source, nonprofit, corporate, and individual developer communities. We’d like to build common “operating procedures” around Social Good 2.0.
