Hi Tech4Good friends,
We'll be taking a holiday break in December, after two great November get-togethers, and we'll see you in January with new programming.
Nonprofits: here’s a unique opportunity for pro bono virtual reality content
Emerson College's virtual reality course is seeking a partnership with a nonprofit to create a short virtual reality piece about the organization's mission. This is part of an engaged learning program where students use their media production majors to contribute to a social cause and give back to the Los Angeles community.
Here is an article about how nonprofits have been using VR technology. And you have questions or are interested in applying to be a nonprofit partner, please e-mail sarah.berkovich@gmail.com.
BotBash: Fireside Chat and Pitch Competition
Recent panelist Miki Reynolds is Executive Director of Grid110, who’s co-hosting next week’s BotBash. A two-part night featuring a fireside and pitch competition all about AI and machine learning. Industry leaders and budding AI entrepreneurs will take the stage to discuss and share the current state and future visions of AI & machine learning.
Members can sign up to pitch at the event, or just RSVP for free as guests. This is a great, free opportunity if you have a product or idea you'd like to pitch to a panel of industry leaders.

November was fab!
We partnered with the Center for Nonprofit Management for the InnovateLA event Nonprofits x Tech Innovation, hosted by Impact Hub LA. Pam Saelieb was a great moderator and huge thanks to the panelists! It was hard to capture the breadth of the far-ranging conversation so here are just a few tidbits: Get a tech person on your Board. Build your website in Squarespace and your design in Canva. Remember that it’s technology in the service of who & what. The commonality between computer scientists and nonprofits is that we’re all problem solvers.
And it was nice to get to know some new folks at ERB in the Arts District – thanks to those who came for drinks.
May your holidays be less commercial and more spiritual (however you define that).
